"Lifetime Belt Warranty"
#1
My stock original belt started slipping recently and the machine decided to not go up hills anymore as of Friday. Time for a new belt. I didn't abuse it beyond anything normal like hill climbs (steep ones in low) or mudbogs and snow........serious trail riding but not abuse. The belt is still on the machine and I haven't even pulled the cover yet. I ask the dealer about the "Polaris Lifetime Belt Warranty" and they tell me right off that I won't be able to get a free belt because all the BS in the fine print. I can understand abuse not being covered.......but to tell me they won't honor it without even looking at the belt has got me a bit POed. I already ordered a Dayco HP belt off EBay because A) it's supposed to be a great belt and I want the better belt anyway B) It'll cost me about $15 bucks less than the Polaris belt.
So really, I'd probably have ended up going with the Dayco belt anyway because I wanted to go with this "High Performance" belt...........but the fact that Polaris advertises in your face about the "Lifetime Belt Warranty" to sell machines only to give you the shaft with fine print BS so severe that you can't get them to honor what they advertise is blatantly disingenuous.
When I pull the belt off I'm going to bring it to them and push the issue hard just on the principle of it.
It just seems dishonest to me.

The lifetime warranty only applies to the original belt anyway. So it's really just one free belt. If your dealer says it's not covered without even looking at it, it's time to switch dealers.

Hey Backinthesaddleagain,
I had the same problem. I even called Poolaris and they gave me the old brush off. And as for the original belt goes, lifetime means lifetime to me, not one time only. It's just a polaris scam.

I had a belt go bad and brought up the life time warranty issue also. My dealer informed me that the belt wasn't covered because of the technical fine print b.s. I then informed him of how displeased I was about Polaris's mis-leading advertising. He told me not to worry as he would give me a new one. Although I was pleased about getting a free new one I still wasn't pleased about Polaris's advertising tactics. Nonetheless, I have bought two more Sportsman's since that incident.
