Default HELP!! 91 trailboss 250 clutch qiestions

I was riding my trailboss today, and have never had a problem with it. i thought a stick came up and hit the bottom of my clutch cover then a bizarre whirring noise came out of it speeding up and slowing with engine rpm. and it ground to a halt then the engine died. (of course i was at least 2 miles from the truck) So a guy with a sportsman 500 towed me back to the truck and i took the clutch cover off once i got it home. I thought the drive belt had broken. The drive belt looks fine and the clutches look fine what i found was some rubber piece behind the clutch on the engine is all twisted and rubbing against the back of the clutch. Can anyone tell me what the rubber thing is and how expensive a problem this is gonna be. Please no suggestions to go buy a new quad i like my trail boss.
Thanks
Erik

i have a 1990 trail boss and had that problem a few times. its the seal that is located right behind the clutch, as you said. sometimes it manages to interfer with your primary and get shredded. Sometimes the seal can be saved with some JB weld if it is still complete, but if you need a new one, it wil set you back around 45-50 $$, if i remember right.

thats going to require a $20 primary clutch puller. Any polaris dealer will sell them, and HPD and RCR do too. Just screw the clutch puller where you took the bolt ofut of the middle of the clutch. you will probably need an impact wrench to get the clutch off. they are usually on there damn tight. after that, its pretty self-explanitory. if you have any trouble, we'll be happy to help.

Got it apart, my clutches and belt looked fine, its just the inner seal on the clutch housing. Anybody have a parts diagram with a part number for it? Maybe even (if you happen to be a dealer reading this) a price?
thanks in advance and for your help.
Erik
