Default Well crap, I need suggestions

My HMF pipe is running awesome, love it. However it seems I have burnt out my sparky on it. Any one have any ideas why this would happen? Am I running something off that would cause that? And is there a less expensive way to replace then $20 a shot from HMF??? Any and all help is needed, Thanks guys

Are you sure your not running to lean? As for a cheap replacement a guy can buy a sheet of that sceening at Home Depot and make your own. Use your old one with the new screening, you can also pop rivit on the new screening....

I think it was a little lean at sea level, but did not think it was off enough to do that. Good Idea on the screen

The spark arrestor is far enough from the heat source that it seems to me that if you were running lean enough to burn up your SA, you would at worst be doing serious internal damage or at best running poorly. It would actually make more sense to me if you were running rich. You can actually see flame shooting out of the exhaust at night when it backfires due to a rich mixture when you initially let off the gas and sometimes when you are decelerating under load (using compression down a steep hill in a low gear) It would have to be a pretty flimsy SA though, I would think.

I would get your jetting checked and learn what adjustments need to be made for the different places you like to ride.

Good Luck!

That could make since, since I was way rich on the mountain ride we just did this weekend. I did not even think about the altitude we were going to ride until we got there and it was not running well.
