Default Giovanni??? Inconsistent??

Hey I recently bought three of the Giovanni 50 cc's, one for my daughter and the two others were for friends. My daughters ran great for a week then just up and stalled while she was putting around.......and I haven't been able to get it running since. It's got spark, they shipped me a new carb (good Customer Service so far) so it should be getting gas, it's definately got compression.....????? Turns over but won't fire??
The second one for a friend has ran awesome since he got it......burned up three tanks of fuel already!! He's loving his.
The third one I just got was the identical one on the web page but didn't come with the alarm, remote kill/start switch. It also has an issue, It's idling wide open and can't get it to idle down?? Carb problem I'm guessing.
Cheers

I'll start backwards on this:
Unit 3 you'll need to take the carb off and clean it, the gel pac or something has the slide stuck or your cable is routed to tight.

Number 2 sounds normal, hopefully you changed the oil and plug if not you WILL end up with lubrication issues; the plug will run it for as long as it does, make sure you have a spare NGK of equivalent size and range

Unit #1
1) sounds a bit odd, first will it start if you put 8 to 10 drops of gas directly into the cyl and put the plug back in?
2) Take the air cleaner off and see if it starts that way the air filter may be plugged / still partly in a plactic wrap or something else silly
3) ensure all the safeties and shut offs are disconnected / disarmed; the neighbor had one which drove me nuts till I figured out he'd engaged the remote shutoff and it didn't reset.
4) You may have a valve out of spec, if it doesn't start, repost to this thread and I'll go out measure the gap spec on one of ours and talk you through resetting it, assuming you have some wrenches and a feeler guage.

I would say check the valves too. My nephew spent the weekend working on the carb to get his daughters running. His dad came by, adjusted the valves, and it's run great since.

WOW. I love this website. Just heard about in the other day but I know I'll be here lots!!! Buddys quad that was idling high is good to go now. Carb (needle valve) problem. As for mine though............I'll try pulling off the air cleaner and see if that helps. I did put some gas down the plug hole and turn it over but it still wouldn't fire which I don't understand?? I picked up a new NGK Plug for it today and it does have spark. As far as kill switches and safety remote kill I figured it would also kill the spark if one of them was tripped?? The valve adjustment might be over my head but ya I do have wrenchers and will pick up a feeler gauge tomorrow. CHEERS

Sounds like the valves need adjustment. That is a common problem with these.

Intake is .006, exaust is .008.
go to deepa.recongamer.com and use any of the Honda manuals (185s or 200 for a preference) for instructions on setting / check timing using the numbers above; the pictures will show a "stand up motor" where yours is a horizontal, but the technique is the same. This is the first Gio I've heard of with a timing issue but my guess is as they are sold more of this will come up.

we had a few of them with the same symptom, they had spark but it was weak, changed the cdi box and they fired right away

Hello,
I just bought a 49.9 cc Giovanni atv. It will not start! I have tried pouring gas into where the plug is, it will turn over, i get a few putt putts out of it, but it will not stay running, and then eventually after trying 100 times, the battery dies. I don't know if there is a fuel switch or anything?? It shows on the manual, but the manual as you know isn't for this atv, and I don't see one. It's like its not getting enough gas, any ideas???

HI, There is no fuel switch.

You have the front break pulled into start?
Switch is set to the run postion?( on left handle bar)
Rear kill switch tether is in place?
Two small wires with connectors on left handle bar are making are fully on there treminals?

Try these and let me know, sometimes its the simple stuff that is overlooked
