Difference in port in polish
#1
Just wondering if this sounds like a good deal i live in michigan and was wondering if having our local powersports place (holiday powersports) is worth it or should i have it sent somewhere if so were and any price estimations. Or is it really no difference what kind of power should i expect with having this done. thanx

How familiar are you with the quality of work this shop produces? If the shop has a good reputation and has some experience with porting on your particular model i'd let the local place do it, but if they don't have much experience i'd find somewhere else to do it, an inexperienced person can actually cause a power loss if they don't know where to take away metal and where to let it alone. I got my local powersports shop to do mine, but beforehand I knew that they were experienced with porting heads for my model.

I sent my 660 head to a normal, non-Raptor specialist. Spent a couple hundred $$. It didn't do much. It was a very quaint port job. They couldn't help much with tuning afterwards. I know other guys that sent their raptors to local shops. Never good.
I sent the head to Bob Craycraft the second go around, spent a tish more. It was a huge difference. They match ported my intake boots as well. They know the Raptor tricks. The tuning support you get afterwards is priceless. It was like bolting a rocket motor to the thing. Jet size changed from 170/175 to 195/200. That should sum it up right there.
No mess around with local shops. Send your parts to Bob.

He will charge about $300 to port your head. There is a good chance that your intake valves are worn. A 3 angle valve job is about $85 + any valves you need replaced. You should call or email Bob for exact pricing. Search for Craycraft Racing in Google.
You will smoke the YFZ. This is why I sent my parts to Bob...My buddy was smoking me with his YFZ...until I met Bob. Now I half hill em. But, I have a cam and piston too.
