Default Info on the Rubicon CTE

Hello,

I would like to know what are the differences between a regular (US) Rubicon, and the CTE. Is the CTE worth the extra money. What is the best place in Canada to purchase one. I live near Watertown NY. All replies appreciated.

The CTE Rubicon is a version of the regular Rubicon that was developed here In Canada. The main thing about the Canadian Trail Rubicon is the major improvements in the Ride. Honda wanted to keep the SRA for it's stability, but improve the ride quality. This was done with different Shocks and springs. The ride , I've been told, is about 90 %to 95% of a IRS system. I have ridden one and I can tell you that the ride is far ahead of any SRA quad.I'm not sure of the price difference, so I can't tell you if it's worth it.

Yes, I heard the suspension was better. I take it is just the shocks right.....in other words the mounting or angle of the shock is still the same I take. Also I hear that the Hondamatic trans is remapped for better performance. I was going to buy one, but due to the poor exchange rate and the price I feel it is too much. A dealer also told me to wait until Honda unveils the new models.

NO, I also think the angle and the mounting is different. Also, tranny was remapped. I tried it out and it's very nice.

when the CTE first came out (04) there were significant differences (as the other posters mentioned).

Now I think it's only the (adjustable pre-load) shocks, but the newer US Rubicon shock valving is better than the 04 and the geometry is now the same as the CTE (why produce two different sets of frames, swingarms, and a-arms?).

I think the 36mm carb (and whatever shift mapping) was carried over to the US 06.

You still can't get the adjustable preload on the US version, but the geometry and better shocks make the US 05 and 06 better than the 04.

Maybe someone else knows exactly what the current differences are?

The things that were developed during their three years of testing like disk break cleaner and carb adjustments where made up here. You are right that the US verson now has that on their standard Rubicon. However, I also believe with the new shocks that's on the CTE are mounted at a different angle.

Yes this is somthing that I would like to know. I'm hoping for some big things from these guys in '07. With manufactures like Can-Am leading the way in a big way, Honda and the other guys have to really step up their line up.
