Shock revalve? (Need Help)
#1
I'm planning on buying new front shocks for my 2000 400EX, and had a few questions. I was going to buy the fronts first, then buy the a-arms. Would all I need is a revalve when I get the a-arms? Also, are the shocks for +2 a-arms longer in length than shocks for standard a-arms? Or are they the same length, just with different mounting points? Thanks for your help in advance.

If you go with Works shocks, there are 2 different lengths that you can get 250r style which is like 15" tall or the 400ex style which is like 16". I went with the taller ones for more travel. If you go to +2 a arms, the shock mounting point stays very much the same, but with the added length of the a arm, it changes the geometry and the shocks suddenly feel 20-25% weaker. Then you send them back to Works and have them rebuilt for about $90 and shipping (if your springs are perfect) for them to revalve them, change springs, and put shims in so the frame doesn't bottom against the ground off big jumps. (Yes, I went through this.) and you now have about $650 into a pair of $500 shocks that you are saying "damm, I could have got TCS or PEP almost for this price" IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET +2, GET THEM SET UP THAT WAY AND LOOSEN THE SPRINGS UNTIL YOU PUT THE NEW ARMS ON.

How does everyone like their Works Triple Rates? Where did you get them? Is there a difference in the Works you buy from places like, Hy-Tech-ATV, and the ones straight from the factory? Will they be better set up if they are from the factory? Or the same? Also, what kind of warranty do these shocks carry?
Thank you very much for your time and input. It is greatly appreciated!
