Default Eiger 400

Hello to all.
I'm new to the forum and new to ATV's. I planning on buying a new ATV. What I am going to do with this ATV? Plan on plowing a little snow I hope, and trial riding. I hunt and fish. Will plan on doing some winter fishing and since I live in Minnesota it will be cold. I have been reading the forum for some time now. I have read a lot of reviews and I guess there are pro's and con's with all makes. I have what I feel is a good package deal on a Eiger 400 with a Plow, and warn winch out the door in my price range. I guess I'm wondering about the belt system. I hear horror storys about belts on some of the manufactor's. Now I'm in my late 50's some of the kid is gone but you never know maybe I'll go mudden. Ha! I have been able to test drive a lot of ATV's. Most all makes and models. Well any comment pro's or con, on the Eiger will be appreciate. Thanks

The eiger is a great choice! I have the manual not the auto so I can't help you with the belt but everyone that I have talked to likes them. I prefer to shift and if you are going to be plowing I would think that you want the manual so you can pick your the gear you want. With the auto you will be able to put it in low but I still think that you would want to shift. Hopfully some one that does plow with the auto will tell you how it does. I cant think of anything bad to say about the eiger, so congrats on what ever you get and enjoy! Oh and about being in your 50's my dad is mid to late 50's and rides mine all the time when I can not looking, now if I can just get him to get his own!?!

Thanks for the reply. This Eiger would be a auto. The dealer here says he can't get anyone to buy the mannual shifts so he don't stock them. He says with the low range in the auto is something I'll use only if the snow is heavy. thanks Kep

Love my auto. Got it because of a broken ankle in 98', doesn't move the best somedays, so had to move from manuals. But the auto works great, does what I ask of it. Worked the Eiger hard cleaning up after Katrina. Easy to use, set-up very well, good power with a very good ride. The 2speed sub-trans works great, no problem pulling a 14ft trailer with a load. Nice work and trail machine.

There is nothing wrong with an auto. In fact, it probably is more beneficial when plowing or towing. The engine is ALWAYS in its powerrange with a CVT transmission and - not necessarily true with a manual.

Keppy..........I bought my 03 Eiger, auto, new, some 3000 miles ago............the only thing I've done is regular maintainance........and replace a rear driveshaft seal.........and tires.
It's been an excellent machine........I've used it from the Black Rock desert of northern Nevada to the high Cascades of Oregon.
I pack approx 100 lbs of gear......year around in all kinds of weather.
It's size is ideal........not too big.......not too small........
The 400 Suzuki engine is just about bullet proof........
I run synthetic oil and a K & N..........change the oil and service the filter...........
Great bike !!
