I have never driven the full route, just from Austin, to Fallon, and i cruised at 70. Trxoutlaw on here said it was faster to go the other route. I would suspect it matter on what speed you travel. I-80 will be 75mph trip across, as 50 will be 65-70 across. Now I dont know what the speeds are after Austin, so they may drop to 55. I saved over an hour droping onto Austin, and across to SM Nevada, then going on I-80.
Sorry not much help, but if you find out what way is for sure faster, be sure to let us know. I sent JMAC the 50 route, and would like to correct that if its wrong.

Jed:
Just noticed your signature line. . . haven't been on much lately so, may have had it for a while.
You getting sponsored?
Gregg:
Let us know what you find! I would have gone Hwy 80 but, I'ld think 50 would probably be less miles. 80 would probably be slower though so may be a wash in the end. I'ld think fuel would be easier on you going the Hwy 50 way.
Are there truck-stops on the Hwy 50 way? I know Hwy 80 has plenty so, getting cheap (I know. . . relatively cheap) fuel is not a problem. If 50 doesn't have the fuel options, you may end up paying a lot more per gallon filling up on Hwy 50???
Jed may be able to let you know about fuel stops at least?

Supersonic just so you know we live on I-80 and we take the highway all the way to the Tooele turn off we get gas there at the flying J and go that way. I was told there are more passes going the other way But I am not sure if that is true or not. Just letting you know which way we go. I hope that might help a little bit.

Mark, no sponsors here, just being spiteful. It'll be changed shortly.
I know there is fuel in Austin. But thats all I know about the trek on 50. I am sure there is fuel in Delta as well, if you can make it that far. Wendover will have fuel of course, as will Tooele. That will be your last stop for fuel, ice, and what not till the dunes. There is grocery stores in Tooele as well if you need extra stuff.

I had some friends come to Little Sahara from Reno area this last May, They said the road was good. Two lane state highway... They made good time with their toy hauler.. There is gas and services along the way. Your last main stop would be in Delta, Ut. Get gas and what ever else you need there. Take 6 up to Little Sahara turn off.. Easy signs to follow from there..
If you want main interstate highways, go I 80...
