Free quad? Registration/Pink Slip dilemma.....
#1
Dilemma…………Bought a quad few years back, right after the purchase the dealership was bought out by a larger competitor. To date I have never once received a bill from the finance company. My wife pays the bills and she never mentioned anything to me until a year later. Says “babe we never got a bill for the Brando’s quad “ I’m like “ Say what?” Should have bought two! Were going on 5 years now and I’m not sure what to do. I have been paying the registration this entire time and registration does state the finance companies name as well as my own. I called the finance company and they have zero records of the transaction. Also, the information pertaining to the purchase / finance has never showed on my credit report, I checked all three reporting companies. If you have any idea on how to handle this, get a duplicate pink slip or release the finance company from my registration I would appreciate any ideas. I have contacted Suzuki and there no help. They say its between myself the dealership and the finance company. The funny thing is I'm friends with the parts manager who stayed on for the new ownership. I got into contact with the ex owner to explain my problem, he laughed and said " enjoy the bike " he got paid out.

find someone to lien sale it for you and then you can get a clear tittle, or you can not pay registration for it for about 5 yrs then refile, or try to get release of lien from finance company.

Just a thought....if you file lost title....I would think the BMV would have to go to the finance company and say, do you have this title? When they say they do not, maybe they will make a new title without the lien on it?
The other option is to talk to the Finance company...show them they are on as lien holder, if they can't find the title, ask them to sign a release of lien and then take that to the BMV.

Sneeze the bike is all yours, come pick it up.....But let me switch out the muffler bearing and kanuter valves first. The new dealership says it's between myself and the finance company. MSRP is around 2200.00 I think. Not including the other 3k I put into it. The IRS can kiss my ****.

You can print a DMV lienholders form off the internet and fill it out and send it certified mail to the Lien Holder (use address on title). They will either sign it off as no lien or say they have a lien, and as you stated, they don't have any interest. They'll mail it back to you (provide a return envolpe and stamp). Take that to the DMV and they will issue a new title without a lien holder. I ahd to do this with a car I got in the past, course you could always go to the DMV and ask, but they'll tell you the same.

Hymis,
Hopefully this will help you. Here are some steps to take in order to get the title in your name only. First download the California DMV Lien Satisfied/Title Holder Release form. Here's the link: California DMV Lien Satisfied/Title Holder Release form
Complete the form and send it or take it to the recorded Title Holder, in this case the finance company. They need to complete the Title Holder Information Section, sign, date and have the form notarized. Upon completion of this, take the form to your local DMV and the title will be released immediately in your name only. Your best bet is to do this in person, you should try and do it this way versus mail.
This will work only if the finance company is willing to sign off on the release showing their name as Title Holder. Hopefully since you have already spoke to them, they will do this for you.
Unfortunately, by showing the finance company the registration showing them as Title Holder, they make take additional steps and research to find out what the heck happened. Hopefully they will just sign off and you can go forward with the new registration.
