Default Extreme power loss at altitude 06 500efi

Last weekend I took my 06 SP500efi up to about 8800ft. I had a hard time keeping up with my friends 04 Yamaha Bruin 350. It would just bog way down and sound like I was covering my exhaust pipe with my hand. What's up with that? Once I got back home at around 2600 ft, I regained all my power. Other than the power loss, the idle was fine and it reved fine. Also now in High gear, when I start off, my quad shakes. Is there something wrong with my belt? I use low for towing and speeds under 7mph like it says in manual.

If you are riding from 2000ft to 8800 ft how do you re-clutch your quad on the trail? Is polaris the only manufacture that you have to re-clutch for different altitudes, because the Yamaha and BRP that I went on the ride with didn't have any problems.

Do a search here in the Polaris forum for the title "X2 Flooding". There have been a few problems with some of the 500's at altitude. Kinda sounds like what you may have had going on with yours.

Since you have EFI you should not need to do anytihing. There has to be an issue with your ECM not compensating for the altitude.
