Default Honda semi-automatic transmissions

Anyone on here know alot about the honda semi automatic transmissions that were in the 80's era atc's. Trying to get my hands on one because Im building a mini baja vehicle. Weve run polaris CVT's in the past but are looking in a different direction for tranny. My motor is small, 10hp, 305cc. I heard these honda semi-auto put alot of stress on the motor. Anyway, im looking for further info on this specific kind of tranny, any help would be greatly appreciated.

what would be a good transmission to mate with a briggs and stratton 10hp 305cc motor, i know ill have to modify the tranny to make it work but im looking for any suggestions, right now im looking at a couple from a '83 honda atc 185cc and 200cc, both of them are 4-speeds i think.

it's been 15 years since I've seen one of those trikes (never paid much attention to them anyway), but isn't the transmission integral to the engine case on that trike?

ive seen it where they modified the transmission by cutting the motor part off and putting a plate over the opening.

but the thing that makes it a semi-auto is the autoclutch set-up. a wet multi-plate and a centrifugal clutch.

typically a centrigal clutch off the crankshaft that turns a multiplate clutch on transmission input shaft. 2 stage foot shift (only press once - 1st 1/2 of motion pushes plates of multiplate apart, 2nd 1/2 rotates shift drum to change gear). So the cent. clutch handles disengagement at idle, but when revving higher than the centrifugal clutch's engagement - the shifter presses the multiplate apart, then shifts. You can find a exploded view if you search around enough. Search for autoclutch on the web
