That group of engines, the 50/70/90/110 go back to the late 60's/early 70's.

trailridercamden,

The engine has been around a long time, it's very reliable you can't go wrong with it. Here is a post that might be of some interest. CT70 You may even want the links in case you need parts in the future.

I am pretty sure the motor was designed in the mid 50's and first came out in the late 50's with the scooter Honda called the CUB. My friend had one in the early sixties and it was very odd looking because of the frame design was one big unit with the engine stuck on the bottom.

I can't find it right off on hand but Honda has the info some where on there site.

honda clone engine. u know their are patents on engines u know so it would have to go pretty far back to get a engine they could clone without getting sued, if it was new they'ed get sued and what purpose would it be to sell sm profit bikes?

Well the word is that honda sold the patent but regardless polaris is already getting cloned and they haven't been around long at all so it would probably be hard to sue someone in china. Also my dad helped me do some work on the redcat and he said the motor looked just like honda motors from the early 70's

as I understabd patents only apply in the country issued or are enforced in the country issued. From what i understand china does not recognize U.S. or International patents. that is one of the problems they have exporting their goods.

Sir,
China is bound by international law and World Trade Organization to abid by US / Others patents. In saying that, I can tell you first hand that they don't give one crap about them and they wink, wink and don't enforce the laws. We lose millions and billions annually to these pirates. They win by cheating and no labor laws. SEADAWG
