I'm new to this forum, I'm hoping someone can help. I just bought this quad cheap, a 96. My problem is the starter won't engage. It spins fine and the gears are all fine too. I looked in my service manual and there is some sort of clutch behind the flywheel. Could this be my problem that this has gone bad? Anyone else had this problem?

Any info would be greatly apprecitated.

Most likely , yes.
Follow the proceedure outlined in the manual for removal. Take note of chatter marks on the outside of the starter driven gear and the inside of the clutch outer ring where the sprag clutch rides. Replace both components and sprag clutch if chatter marks are present.
