bought 2006 hawkeye, disappointed
#1
I bought a 2006 Hawkeye on Wednesday, March 28th and I am very disappointed. It wont start most of the time and the throttle doesnt work. When I do get it started it dies. When it runs, the power is OK, not as fast as I thought it would be. My dealer wont take it back, they actually offered me 1400 less than I paid for it. I know there is no lemon law in Indiana for ATVs, so now I am stuck with a lemon. We rode today and it started up fine after about 15 attempts. I left it at the dealer this afternoon to see if they could fix it, any advice? My husband has a Sportsman 500 and has no problems. I want to love my ride too!!!

Is it brand new? Even so, you just bought it, the dealer really needs to come through for you on this one. There is no excuse for selling you something that doesn't work right.

I would try to find a better dealer. I'm pretty sure there were some bulletins on the Hawkeyes that the dealers should have or should take care of. Can your hubby do any wrenching? Any of his buddies? You should also search this sight for similar problems.

Hello all,
Thanks for responding to my whining about my Hawkeye. yes it did come with a warranty, but the knocking in the engine is so bad that my husband didn't even want to touch it because it is so new. He is quite the motorhead but it's different when you have a brand new item that should run. I rode it yesterday and it starts up after it is warm but the knocking continues. Yes I would like to find another dealer because when they offered me $1400 less than what I paid for it to trade it in on the same thing, I blew a gasket. THe manager of SS powersports in Clarksville, IN was completely out of line on this and rude to me. I am looking for another dealer. We actually dropped it off last night at the same dealer because they said that they would fix it. We are just worried that it's in such bad shape that after the warranty runs out we will be stuck with a quad that's not worth a penny.

If the dealer can/and knows how to fix it (there are lots of updates on them and they have been out for awhile). they are great machines once you get the carb dialed in. Keep on them, they sound like shysters.. good luck. email me amcvey@vanwall.com and I will email you the updates so you can have ammo.

well it's under warranty - bring it in every god blessed frickin day until they get so damn sick of you they take it back or fix it right.
DOCUMENT EVERYTHING you do and everything they said - that way you have it if you need it down the road. The person with the most documentation usually wins. Documentation is worth way more than you would think.
its under warranty they have to make it right - lemon law or not. you still can sue them if there isnt a lemon law
remember.....squeeky wheel gets the greasin - just keep pestering the livin sht out of them
threatin them with a lawyer and that you will trash the hell out of thier name - that usually works for me
