Dead Trailblazer Yet Again
#1
Here's a fun one! My TB decided to crap out yet again last night. It had been running great. I was out in the woods riding for about 2 hours, so decided to pull off and take a little break at this pond. When I tried to start the ATV back up again all I got was a click. So, I thought it was the battery. Walked home (1.5 miles one way) got my tools, pulled the battery, and put it on the charger. The battery is fine, so the starter has to be fried. I also have yet to buy a new pull starter for it after the rollover. I took off the pull start assembly this morning and tied a rope to the cage on the starter. I was almost able to get it to fire, but just not quite. Anybody have any special tips how to get it to start in the middle of the woods? I'm 2 miles from the nearest road at the bottom of a 300' long hill. I don't even think a 4WD ATV could pull me up this hill.

Gotta winch on that machine. Might take a while, and hopefully the trees are big enough, but once you're back up that hill you could get towed in.
If you're brave, you could turn it around and try to bump start it on the way back down. lol. 300ft should give you a few tries at it.

I don't have a winch. I tried to get it out with a Grizzly 450, but we didn't even get close. The trail is really rocky, lots of roots and very muddy right now. I have plenty of oil. Just topped it off yesterday. I guess this will have to be a repair in the woods. I'm going to try the rope on the cage tomorrow when it is drier and see if I have some better luck than today in the rain and snow.

If you pull the clutch cover off, and wrap a rope around the clutch and pull start it like that. Just make sure the rope can't get caught in the clutch when it fires. I've had to do this on a sled when the pull rope broke.

I tried the rope on the clutch with no success. I kept trying it onb the cage on the starter too. I seemed to have better luck that way, but still nothing. I can smell gas when I pull it, so it must be getting fuel. It had stalled otu twice on the last trip. It has about 1/8 of a tank of gas in it. It wouldn't need to be full to get it to start would it? Any other ideas? I just moved here and don't know too many people that have ATVs that can pull me out.
