sportsman 4 wheel drive...

Default sportsman 4 wheel drive...

I have a sportsman 500 and the main nut in the hub for the four wheel drive will not stay put, I have had it in shops all over I get it back for a day or two and the thing is loose again and I lose 4 wheel drive for that side...Why is that coming loose on that side?!?!

well isnt there supposed to be a cotter pin in the hole to keep the nut from backing off? if its shearing that off then u have some weird problems ha ha ha.

yeah i fianlly gave up and brought it to a shop, got it back for the second time and it still backs out!

did you try buying a new polaris genuine castle nut for it?

yeah thats whats gonna have to happen now, the stock nut wasnt a castle nut. Im going to drill a hole and put a castle nut and a pin.

on some shafts they dont have a hole for cotter pin or a castle nut, they use a C-clip. its easier than drilling and cheap!

DON'T USE RED LOCTITE, you'll never get it off if needed. If your going to use a loctite don't go any higher than blue.
