I am looking to buy a 2002 sportsman 700. Are there any reoccurring problems or concerns that I should look for?
Also what would be a god price for one with around 100 hrs on it.

this the first yr 700 if i remeber right. i heard some had electric problems but my friend had a dealer model w/out any problems that i know of.

 

I have one. They had alot of cooling problems on the 02s. Water pump housing o-ring would leak. They put a metal plate over the water pump housing to corect this. Check for this mod. It should be a greenish/black metal plate over it. They also put in a different crank case breather hose off of the valve cover on mine. The inline filter would freeze up when moisture would collect. I think they would also adjust the carb needle. No big deal. If in good shape, it should be a good machine.

100 hours is pretty low. How many miles? I'm guesing about 1000. I think book is around $3800. $3000 would be a really good deal if in good shape. I would expect $3500 for mine, maby more but its got new tires on alloy wheels and a 3000# warn winch and its in good shape with 3900 miles.
