Skid Plates Outy 800?
#1
What's everyone using for skid plates on their outy 800's. Just bought it and thought I'd rather be safe than sorry. Looked on line at Armadillo but can't find one for the Outy. I also checked out the Ricochet. Any suggestions?

i bought the ricochet for my renegade and my buddy did for his outlander.
you definitly need something! stoved in a-arm guard and destoyed boot.
i just cut them back a little.only other problem i have with them is the allen head bolts.
when they get dinged up you cant get allen tool in them to take the guard off.

I installed the ricochet's and have a ride on them and I really like their protection. Previous rides I was kind of hesitant, but last weekend I beat the crap out of them on the rocks and they held up great.

Hi everyone,
Could someone please tell me, if I get the full body skid plate for my '07 Outlander 650 Max XT, can I still use a snow plow attachment for the 4x4? I want underbody protection, but I may want to order a plow package next year.
Thank you very much.

There has been a couple of guys who fabbed a compromise for the skid plate to accomodate the plow pusher plate. Most of us just take off the skids in winter.
Regarding the allen head bolts getting boogered up, I just went and got some std metric bolts to replace the allen head bolts. Don't forget to put 'never seize' on the bolts.

The guy I know with an Outlander fabbed his own out a a high density plastic material. Its pretty thick stuff and has a "greasy" feel to it which makes it slide really well over rocks and logs and stuff. The rocks don't seem to catch and dig into it like aluminum does.
If i remember right he did his with machine tools but you could probably do most of the fab work with common woodworking tools like saws and drills and routers which is a plus. Might be worth a look at your local materials shop for some plastic board stock if you're looking for a project.
