TM 45 vs TM48??
#1
Has anyone ever switched from a TM45 to a TM48 on a stage oneish DS? I've heard from a few well respected builders that a 48 will not lose any bottom end torque and HP but will gain you about 3-5 HP on the big end. Not talkin peak HP, really just talkin about over rev HP gains?
Not talking about a Lectron 48...but TM's vs TM's.
Anyone got anything?

your 45 will probably make the most usable power until more extensive mods are done inside the motor to utilize the flow of a 48, it all comes down to set up as well, a 48 may show more top end h/p on a dyno, but don't underestimate the 45, it may go faster down the track on a stage 1 build. The tm45 or 48 are both awesome carbs and accept easy tuning to alky as well, can't go wrong with either one, my 48 on alky is still putting out more power than my fcr 39 duals on alky.

I have both, but my jug is a 720 and I run 13 to 1 compression, the 45 was on with just the pipe and was awsome! I went to 48 didnt notice any loss of low end, great midrange!!!my top end stops at 8500rpm but pulles through great!

ERBEDS650, so in you opinion, a TM48 would be the better choice on a stage 1 motor? I have a TM45 right now and will some day go with cams and a piston but not sure when. I was just wanting to know if I could find a good deal on a 48, would it improve my performance over the 45?
Anyone out there have any dynos of a 48 vs a 45 on a stage 1ish motor..love to see one!

My thoughts are save your cash, the 45 is great! if you going to add a high compression piston or larger bore, and agressive cams then look into the 48 after those items are done.
Like I said enjoy it! its a great carb the 45!
