LT-A50 clutch springs
#2
I decided to tear into the LT-50 clutch this weekend. I tried to find heavier springs for the clutch, but nobody really makes anything for these LT-50s/KFX-50s. The stock springs are pretty heavy and are only about 1.5" long. I went to the local hardware store today to look for some springs, but couldn't find any that would be heavier that what's in there now.
So, I decided to lighten up the clutch weights instead of trying to find heavier springs. I don't know what those clutch weights are made of, but it's some strong stuff!
I drilled four 1/4" holes about 3/8" deep across the back of each weight and drilled five 1/4" holes across the front of each weight. I'm guessing this effectively raised the stall speed about 500-750 RPM. Doing this really helps this thing off the line. It's that noticeable.
