KUDOS to Dirtwheels staff for printing a retraction
#1
I was so happy Dirtwheels printed a retraction after claiming it weighed 200lbs more than a Grizzly 700, I was beginning to think Can Am had outright lied about the weight of the Renegade. Unfortunately, that was enough to discourage me from renewing my subscription to Dirtwheels, ATV Rider and QUAD have earned my business now.

Probably the only reason the printed the retraction was because Can am (I would anyway) threatened to pull out all of their advertising dollars.
It does make you wonder how much stuff they have gotten wrong in the past, and let it slide by.

Either that or lots and lots of people started writing to DW to complain, especially when people like me believe they wouldn't print something unless it was true. That was a huge error, how could they screw that up, it wasn't even just written poorly and implied it weighed a lot, it flat out said it was 200 lbs more than a Grizzly. Any idiot that has a fundamental knowledge of ATV's would have realized that was ridiculous and corrected it. Oh well better late than never I suppose. I see Can Am shows a dry weight of 607lbs for the 08 models on there website now, with fluids it's probably about 655lbs. With fluids the Grizzly is probably about the same.

DW could dedicate an entire issue to retracting/clarifying inconsistencies they have reported over the years. I have no faith in their so called journalists and don't bother to pick up their crap magazine any more.....

The only things they will never retract are all the shootout results Yamaha wins....Unless there is no Yamaha in a shootout, that's the only way anyone else wins....even then they'd probably say if there was a Yamaha in the test it would be the clear winner....
The only thing I can think of was they juxtaposed the weight with the displacement at 800lbs....had 800 on the brain. Then again, I can't, nor ever will defend DirtyWheels....

TPR, i have to disagree. I have been reading them for about 3 years now, and while i do agree they are not the fairest sometimes, it seems like no one brand always wins. It does always seem like no matter what the newest quad in the shootout always wins. Is the newer quad always that much better? or are they just trying to sell more copy's?

Ditto. Screw Dirtwheels Magazine. They write the results of any shootout, then write the article to match.

Don't take what I said too seriously.....I was a bit tongue in cheek, but there is a very clear preference towards Yamaha......They throw the most advertising dollars therefore they don't want to upset the biggest cash cow.
That's not to diminish Yamaha products. They make great ORV's and watercraft, but when you read articles from all the magazines, you end up with distinctly different opinions and results, unless a particular product is far superior.
THAT'S how I figure out what the percieved best is, when say 3 of 4 magazines agree on who's best. Then it becomes. More plausable.
