Default 400ex vs Warrior

My Warrior which is my first ATV is really wearing me down. To me it is pretty fast and fun, but I just can't handle how rough it rides. So, I am wondering if I was to sell it and go to a 2000 or 2001 400ex would it be a big improvement suspension and handling wise?

Yes there will be a huge difference in the handling. Another option if you don't want to go through the hassle of selling the warrior is to get a 2001 raptor 660 rear shock. This will give you more spring and response. I own both and the 400ex vs the warrior is like comparing a sports car to a tank when it comes to handling.

Thats what I thought. The warrior was fun for 3 months and now I am ready to ride fast and not get thrown around while doing it.

I did the same thing. I bought a super clean stock 01' warrior for $2000, I then put $600 into getting White bros exhasut, foam filter, rebuilt carb, full setup for sand front and rear. Rode it for a few months and got a 400ex with 416 kit, full exhaust for $2300 (guy needed money bad). The warrior doesnt even compare to the 400ex only good thing is my dad gave me $2000 for warrior he likes it.

Yeah I just got an exhaust for it and while its much better the suspension just blows. I am sure even buying new shocks isn't worth it when I could sell it and get into a 400ex.

I rode a Warrior for years. Back in the day, it wasn't considered that bad compared to what was available at the time....but that all ended in 99 when the 400EX hit the market. I was never so happy as the day when I sold my old Warrior and got an EX!

The Warrior just handles heavy and kind of sluggish.....

Well I went a different route. I ended up selling the warrior and getting a 99 yz 125 2 stroker. I know it will be tough always keeping it in higher rpm's, but I have always wanted to try it. Worse comes to worse I sell it and move on.
