Hi all
I have a 2003 Sportsman 500ho this is the problem the quad will run if I have a jump box on it the second I remove the box it dies it also won't start with the recoil starter with the box off .The quad only has 80 miles on it and ran fine 3 month ago. The grounds seem fine and the Battery connections are tight.I have to get a new battery or charge the one in it to check if it is charging.

it sounds like the battery is junk and as well i would guess its not charging as well. i know on the newer bikes the charging system wont keep a bike running w/out a battery hooked up. i would charge the battery to see if it will hold a charge then check for voaltage output.
