98 Sportsman 500
#1
My reverse light is stuck on on my 98 Sportsman 500. This is making the wheeler think that it needs to keep the rev limiter on. So as i drive in the foward gears or even in neutral it spits and sputters thinking it needs to keep it governed. Any body know how to get the light off or what is happening. I took off the shift lever and found a small sensor that has a plastic lever sticking out that goes into the shift ball. Is this what i need to replace? If i keep my reverse over ride button on than she runs great not sure what i need to replace Any help would be great Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is how it is on your plug but maybe you could make a jumper and find whick one on the plug is for forward and which one is the ground for the plug and use the jumper to make the bike think it's in forward...maybe this will work maybe not I have a raptor 660 and mine did the same but it was a switch in the hand brake, same switch like your talking about but it was on my park brake, use the jumper to test it and then you will know if you have to replace THAT swich.
