Any melting plastic problems on the 08 800's since this new heat shield has been installed by polaris?

 

It really is unbelieveable how hot the header pipe gets on the 800. I've been plowing a lot of snow the last few days and I have the side panels removed so to let the heat out onto my legs. It's nice in the cold to have this heat, but it surprising how hot it still gets when it's only between 10 and 20 degrees out. I've decided to send my header pipe out for coating. I've been looking at peformancecoatings.com and jet-hot-com. I currently waiting on a call from jet hot with an estimate of the price. Then I'll send it out and plow with the 500 again while the 800 is down.

I had previously planned on trying the 08 heatshield on my 07, but I'd rather eliminate the heat rather than just redirect it.

 

I looked at a friends' 06 since and basically there is no heat shield of any type. No wonder they have melted on the 800.
