Float Adjustment
#1
I have a problem that if i leave the ATV sitting it
leaks gas little by little. I did take carb off and
install new jets that John sent me. But maybe when i
put the bowl back on i messed up the float cause it
never did this until i changed the Jet in it. Just
wondering what i have to do to fix the problem. i
tried tapping the bowl and no solution from what ive
heard it maybe the float is sticking or sitting to
high, Please help so we can o ride this weekend.
Thanks

When you had it off did you see if the float tab was adjustable? I had this same problem on my son yamoto 50. So we took it off and cleaned it and I adjusted the float. It worked for a day then it didn't have any gas. What really happened was the little spring in the needle stop thing was stuck up. After a day of riding it unstuck. I really did not need to adjust the float at all.
To adjust it I grab a can of carb cleaner, clamp the carb down on it's side so I can squirt the cleaner in the hole were the fuel goes in. Then basically squirt it in the hole and move the float up till it doesn't come out the bottom. Then adjust it so it stops it when the float would be level.
I'd still bet the float adjustment is fine it is the spring needle thing that is gummed up. It is the little nub the flaot tab sits on, it should stuck out quit a ways. If it is just barely sticking out it is gummed up.
edit...I did this exact topic search last night before I fixed it. Stayed up till 4:30 this morning fixing that and a couple other small things so he could ride today, then he went roller blading
