According to the polaris website the 01 is a couple hundred $ cheaper no pod headlight and no speedo/odo/hourmeter. Is this correct and are there any other changes.

I believe that is correct. It's actually about 500 dollars cheaper than the 2000. I don't think that it looks right without the headlight pod. I would rather have the 2000. They should have never changed it.

2001's also have stainless steel braided brake lines, hardened rotors, sintered metal brake pads,improved brake lever/master cylinder, different air box and filter, 200 main jet instead of a 210, lower steering post bearing instead of a bushing,and improved steering geometry for lighter steering.
