Default brand new sportsman, starter drag

have a brand new 2007, bought new off showroom floor 3 wks ago. No compliants, but the starter seems to hang a little after it starts up. Is this needing a shim or something like a car, or is normal? Have old honda and had a yamaha that did not do this. I am going to call the dealer, but i am not sold that they take this stuff very seriously.

The starter drags a couple seconds after the engine starts. This is normal on Polaris. I believe the starter turns faster than the engine and makes it harder to kick out.

yeah, my 1999 does this as well. also, how difficult is it to pull the starter on a 99 500 sportsman, i need to clean the bushings as they are hanging up it seems. thanks

My 500 has done this since new. Its an ugly sound, but I've gotten used to it. Now I'd wonder if something was wrong if it stopped doing it. LOL
