Default Honda Rancher TRX400FA6 shifting problem

I have a TRX400FA6 and today the key was left on for about 45 minutes with the engine not running. I cranked it and when I put it in reverse, it spit and sputtered. I looked down and the LED had 2 dashes (- -) and ESP flashed 12 times. I found I had a 30 amp fuse marked "motor" that was blown. I replaced it. The symptoms went away briefly but the fuse blew again within 1 or 2 minutes with the return of the spitting and sputtering and light flashing 12 times. I replaced the fuse one more time and the same thing occurred. Where do I go from here? Thank you.

I had the same problem with sputtering but no fuse blew, by what I have read on other posts and my own problems, most of them seem to be water or damp in the electrical connectors. so what I did is just checked and cleaned all the electrical plugs and then all was good, if this does not work for you then it could be something more complicated.

Yes check for moisture in the couplers , check for shorted/pinched wire/s and try a new fuse with shift control motor coupler unplugged ..

I am haveing the same issue as you are having with the ESP system. The LED has 2 dashes (- -) and ESP flashes 12 times and when running the ATV sputters and spitts to move it. I have not tried changing the fuse and by the sounds of your last post this may not of been the issue. Any other information you could pass along would be great. Thanks

Default Honda Rancher 04 400 - Blowing motor fuse

Hello,

I have a Honda rancher 04 400, I was out riding and I noticed the rancher would not shift out of first and reverse would not work (Sounds like its clanking and banging).

After looking into the wheeler and taking everything apart I found that it was blowing the motor 30a fuse when ever the unit wanted to shift past 1st gear. If i leave it in Manual shift and stay in first the wheeler works fine and does not blow the fuse.

My questions for everyone is what could be shorting out to cause the fuse to blow? or what wires should be checked. I have looked at all the wiring and nothing seems to be exposed.

So could it be a part that is causing this?

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Thank you
