1991 Yamaha Warrior Hard Starting Push Start Only
#1
Hey guys, I posted a couple weeks ago about my Warrior having trouble starting. It is starting to get worse. It won't start at all via the electric start (turns over good) but will right away when push starting it. I adjusted the valves, hot compression is 150psi with throttle open, 90 psi without giving any throttle. When it does run it doesn't seem like it has much power and the idle is very erratic. I have been through my carb 3 times, changed my intake boot, cleaned my air filter. Static Timing looks good with marks lined up. Any help would be much appreciated.

It appears to be good spark but then again that is hard to judge. In my past experience when a stator goes it usually goes completely and there is no spark. Is this something that is normally a problem with the warrior? Anyway to verify?

try to find what that spark looks like...do it at night if u have to, it should be a fat white/blue spark and yea stators do crap out on warriors all the time its weird, in that case you buy a rickys stator there excellent, work better and you wont have any more probs with them and there about $160 shipped, you can ohm test your original stator if you choose, i know my stator is gonna get swapped here soon im tired of it.

yea sort of, i cant member what exactly i did, i know i think the key switch has something to do with it also( where key goes in) the pins on the connector were like sunk down in the connector, and i bought a new ign. coil and swapped a stator from a little bit newer warrior and it wasnt as bad, but mine was acting weird running not starting.

Thanks for your help. I will see what I find out with the spark and then make a determination whether to buy a Stator or not. It is a lot of money for a test but it makes sense if that is a failure mechanism.
