Default Breeze v-belt covered in oil

Just purchased a 98 Breeze for my daughter and was told it needed a new belt. While removing the cover a large amount of oil drained from inside the cover. The belt was saturated in oil an obviously slipping. I am assuming that it is a seal that has went bad since the case oil was very low. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Just wandering if this is a common problem with this machine. Thanks for any input.

I've never heard of it, but that does not mean much. I've never read about it either, and that means quite a bit. They are a great little quad!!

I don't reamember how easy it is to replace the seal. I have a Breeze and the one way went bad on it. When you replace the seal be sure to check the one way springs. One of mine was cooked.
BTW I don't think they made a 90 Breeze. All the ones I have seen are 125's.

Good luck with this deal. Lets us know how it turns out.

Thank you for the reply...it is a 125 cc. The year is a 98. I found a service manual on ebay and downloaded it. I don't have much history on the atv so any info is helpful. Is the one way spring you are referring to on the engine side of the belt of the tranny side?

Belt side. It's been a while since I did the repair. It's in back of the clutch. It looks like a bearing but is really a sprag.

I haven't done anything since............except put gas in it........and my daughter seems to go through a lot of that!!!!

Once you get the oil deal done, tell me if you have a flat spot off of idle. If you do, let me know, I have a cheap and easy fix for that.
