Grizzly 350 power with only high gear

Hi all, first post. Excited about getting a 4-wheeler here Haven't had one since I was a kid.
Looking and test drove the grizzly 4x4 350, and also a grizz 700 to compare. The 350 seems fine to me. I'm just worried about it not having a low range. since I haven't had a 4-wheeler since I was a kid (10 years ago), obviously I know nothing about CVT tranny's on 4-wheelers.
I often hunt in the ozark mountains back in Missouri. If I load up a 200 lb deer on the back rack, and I weight 250, will this thing really pull me up a really steep bank without a low range? Or even a steep hill where I'm going up for 100 yards, and have to go slow because I'm in the woods.
Thanks for any insight. I may end up just getting the big bear with the old style tranny, but I'd like this one better if it will do what I want.

I have a BRUIN 350 well it's my mom's and when I dont wanna ride my Raptor I will hop on her's and it is the same thing as the GRIZZ 350 except for the IRS rear end!! and as far as power it is a really fun atv that can climb's pretty steep hill's but im not sure if it would pull you and a 250 pound deer up any steep hill's thats alot of weight!!! I weigh 280 and I think thats all that atv need's to carry lol BUT!!! If you arent talking really steep incline's it would be up for the job as I said it is a AWESOME ATV REALLY REALLY FUN but if you can afford a bigger atv get it my dad has a Grizzly 400 07 and it has much more low end than the 350 plus it's liquid cooled I have climbed many steep rocky hill's on it and sunk it up in many gOOPE mud hole's and it shined threw it all I think it would be better if<< ya could find one or a grizz 450 it has a low range and diff lock just some food for thought my dad paid only 200$$ more for the GRIZZLY 400 over the 350 grizz.. hope this helped some good luck and as I said if< you can afford it go BIG 400cc plus..

Thank you. I guess I'm just wondering what the engine does when the going gets tough. Will it rev up and give you all the power you could get from an regular manual tranny? I am sure that a 350 manual would be enough power.
The deer are usually more like 150 lbs, but the 200+ pounder ever few years is usually the one you want to mount, plus you can't drag him if he's in a gulley or something
I'll see if I can find a 450 with a low range at a decent price.

The Grizzly 450 has alot of the same features of the 700 at a much lower price. It sounds to me like with hauling that much weight you should have low range just to help keep from burning out your transmission too early.

Try to get a model with a low range,A 250cc with a low range will pull harder than a 400cc without a low range. The only Utility ATV that needs "no" low range is the Manual shift Yamaha Kodiak or Honda Rancher or Foreman because they have a super low 1st gear for hard work situations.

Thanks.
I ended up going in today before I saw the last 2 posts and getting a Grizzly 400 they had on the lot. Still no low range, but is is water cooled and has more power than the 350.
I stopped it on a really steep bank and it made it up alright. Lots of power when you punch it. I'll only be hauling deer 3-4 times a year, and maybe only once a year will it be steep hills. Mostly just trail riding and scouting. I'll just make sure I can get some speed up and not have to stop uphill with the load and I think me and the new Grizz will get along fine. It's a 401cc engine, not 386 like this years big bear 400.
They had a nice grizz 700 FI, non power assist there for $6600. That would have been the best value but my wife might beat me. I gave $5,100, and worked out a deal with the CC company, zero percent interest for a year, 9.99 after that.

congrats on the new wheeler! regarding the deer - you will be fine. i have a '04 bruin. last fall i dropped a nice 9 pointer and it fell down a large ravine. i backed the bruin down - ravine was very steep and i thougt i would have to winch the bike out to make it out. the bruin surprised me - i put the deer (not dressed yet) on the front rack and drove up to flat land - the deer undressed was easily over 200 lbs and i weigh 225. the bruin is geared very low and had no problems.

I think you will be happy with the 400 the 350 probaly would have been fine but for less tha 300-400 bucks more you might as well get the 400 for more power and the liquid cooled part will help for when times get real hot!!! out but anyway's CONGRAT'S!!!!!!!!! And good riding and hunting to ya...
