Transmission Issue - No low range
#1
This is on a 2005 Sportsman 700 MV7 with 60 hours on it.
The problem occurred after getting stuck in about 20" of silty mud.
When I put it in Low range, it behaves like it is in neutral. If I hit the trottle it doesn't budge, and I don't smell the belt slipping.
High and reverse work fine. The shifter engages fine, the dash indicates the correct gear. I did get water in the PVT, and drained it prior to getting stuck.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like the low rang gear slid out of position.
I read somewhere that it has to be moved back into position and tacked in to place so it doesn't move.</end quote></div>

You were right. Just heard back from my mechanic.
The low range gear is press-fit on the input shaft and can slide off.
Option 1. Buy a new input shaft for $278
Option 2. Re-press the gear on the shaft and tack weld it.
