I was thinking of getting a set of 489's 25x8x12 and 25x10x12 for the rear of my bike.Does any have experience with this tires compared to my origanal dirts hooks that come with my ruby.By the looks of the tire I think they might be a lot better! What do you think? Thanks for the help.I do mostly trail riding so i think the 589's would be to much for me.

Goattrotter:
The 489's come stock on the 'Cats-the 500's with 25x10x12 all the way around. I think they are an excellent all-around tire, probably one of the better "stock" tires out there. Keep in mind though, they are an "all-terrain" and not a "mud", "rock" or whatever else you could single out. As a result, no, they don't clean out real well in heavy mud, but they do do a good job in pretty much all conditions. I recently installed a set of 27" Bi/Tri Claws on my 'Cat, while my Dad still has the stock 489's. There really isn't that many places that I can go in which he can't follow. Well, that is until ground clearance comes into play. Factor that in, and the odds are greatly in my favor. Yeah the 'Claws have ALOT more traction than the 489's, but again, there really isn't that many places when you don't have to worry about ground clearance, that he can't follow.

I don't have any experience with the stockers you currently have, but if you're looking for a good "all-terrain" tire, I think the 489's are a good choice. One thing to consider though, they are only a 2-ply rating, so I'd get some "slime" asap. I got into some barbed wire and got a hole in one, but the slime curred it, never had a problem again with them.

Best of luck,

Mike
