I have removed all bolts I could find external of the starter and brackets attaching starter to gear case. Are there bolts internal in the case within the manual rope crank case?

 

If 500 only bolts holding starter are back of starter on clutch side. one fairly easy to get to.The other buried below clutch backing plate,hard to get to. I remove front clutch and backing plate seal screws to allow room to get bolt out. Other members can and probably will tell you their ways without clutch removal. Good luck
