I am thinking about purchasing yellow plastic for a sportsman 500 H.O. and putting it on my xplorer 400. I have looked at the diagrams and the plastic looks like it will fit. I will just have to drill different mounting holes in the frame. Has anyone ever done this? How do you think it would look? Should I just leave the factory plastic on there?

The Polaris accessory book list kits for the Gen. IV machines but dosn't desegnate between 500 or 400. My guess it is for the 500 Sportsmans. I ordered a couple of kits for stock but they were on back order for 2 months and I cancelled them because we recieved a bunch of factory yellow 500's. Your dealer should be able to call Polaris parts and find out for sure.

I did it on my Exp. It worked out perfect I had to cut a hole for my oil resivore and that was it. It all lined up OK, And looks Awesome I have yet to see a better looking machine, I also put graphics off of a 96 Exp. I can send you pics if you want too see what it looks like.

Bosty22, I would like to see some pictures of your xplorer. I think that the yellow is the best color out right now for the sportsmans. I have looked at the diagrams of the mounting places on both machines. Do you have to drill your own holes to get it to fit? Why did you go with the 96' decals? Do you have any mods to your bike? How much did you pay for your plastic? Please send me some pics of your machine. I would really like to see it.

Hey Mean Green If you look at the past history posts you'll find one posted by clindst titled Bosty's yellow Explorer, He posted the pics for me because I didn't have a scanner, If you can't find the past post E-Mail me your address and I'll send you some Pics. There was no extra drilling required besids for the oil resivore, I got it all through my dealer (Plastic and decals) I went with the grqaphics from a 96 Exp because they Had some cool colors in 96 the decals are Purple blue and silver and it looks really nice on yellow. It didn't cost me as much because I had it done before I ever brought it home so they gave me new credit for the green plastic, But if I would have had to buy it all outright it would have cost about $350.00. Thanks for the intrest in my machine and let me know if you have and questions or can't find them pics!!!
