Hello does any one have a800 using oil? My 07 800 sportsman has 3800 miles no problems till about 500 miles ago started using oil uses 1 quart in 100 miles does not seem to have lost any power or smoking from exhaust no leaks either small amount of oil in air box. Have any ideals??

 

i realize that this is a stretch if ur not noticing anything, but i've had to replace the seal on the output side of the crank in the clutch cover because it was leaking, but if theres no smoke and no visible leaks, i'd look there, kinda hard to tell from ur description. i would still say that it is burning and it and it needs the rings replaced

 

My 2005 800 goes thru oil also. We have a few of them in our club and they all do the same thing. I was told they had bad rings in that year and they should be replaced. My wifes 2006 700 doesn't use a drop. I'm trying to decide whether to replace the rings or just get a new bike. This one has about 3300 miles.

 

Is it much to do a "ring" job on these 800 motors? I was thinking of doing one on my '07 800 X2 (2500 miles), as I'm starting to see about 1/4-1/2 quart low on the stick on my last oil change
