We just bought a 2006 800 sportsman and want to get a now blade for it. I have been looking online for prices and am not sure what all I need to order.
some places I go it looks like I need 3 things
blade
mount
arms that go from blade to mount

do I need to order 3 things or just 2

I am going to use this in town at my house for driveway and sidewalk. is the best size to go with a 48" it seems to me that a 60" would be way too wide to try and do the sidewalk

It really depends what brand plow you want to go with. While polaris makes a glacier 1 and 2 system that is easy to install and use, others such as moose make good ones as well. You will find recent discussion on them in the polaris section if you search it.

As for sizes, I have both a 48" and 60" (glacier 2). I like the 48 for sidewalks, but I guess that depends if your sidewalks are 3ft or 4ft. It seems everyone has gone to a 60", but if all your doing is your sidewalk and driveway, a 48 may work best. BTW, if your sidewalks are only 3ft wide, you will regret using a 60" blade. It is too wide and makes it difficult to keep the quad on the sidewalk while avioding removing the grass on the edge! LOL!

 

I have searched but have not found the info I need. so far the best deal I have found is a 48" Warn from Cabela's

 

if you did a search you would find a great deal of post on plows. here i did a search for you. plow choices a few ideas from differnt members.

 

I have a warn 54", and I really like it, I'd check out ebay, thats where I got mine, I got a real steal
wih a Warn plow, you do have to buy a blade, the push tubes, and the vehicle specific mount plate
My 54" turned all the way, comes out a little less than 50", I've did 4' side walks, without a problem

 

When you angle a 48 inch blade it is narrower that your ATV's tires.

no problem, also on what Koerbs said, with the 48", you'll be runnin over the snow, which is a pain

 

i opted with 60", and turned all the way i just fit the sidewalk...just dont veer left or right...lol And with the blade turned all the way you wont run snow over as stated with the 48" blade. As stated its a matter of what you want....i knew i was doin 3 driveways so thats what i chose. A friend of mine has a quick release setup from moose, and when his 60" blade fully turned he cannot lift the blade off the ground....the one edge stays and rubs the ground, i personally have the push tube style that mounts under the motor, stronger and less of a chance the snow will pull you to either side.

 

Does Polaris have a 60" blade for the first glacier setup. I have a 06 500 Sportsman EFI and want somthing a bit wider that the 54".
