My son just sold his Z400. he will ride a Suzuki King Quad 700 4x4 for awhile, but he already notices how tired he gets riding it, and he doesn't like the light steering that can grab out of your hands. His z400 was like a second skin. He goes where all the 4x4s go, especially where they tell him he can't get to. amazing how skill more than makes up for the quad or features.

ANYWAYS.....I think we'll be looking for an Outlaw 525 with IRS. he tried his friends Outlaw 500 and said his mildly modded z400 (pipe, K&N,jet, Big Gun rev limiter) ran better. But i like the idea of the ground clearance. We ride 99% trails and 4x4 type stuff, with some hill climbs (for him..not me).

So did Polaris make any changes between the '07 & '08 years of the 525 IRS? Are the shocks the same? Clutch the same (hydraulic?)? Anything at all different?

 

I don't think there were any major changes. I'll bump it up and see if anyone know.

 

I thought maybe the shocks/suspension had differences, and maybe the hydraulic clutch might have been new to '08. Any '07 owners that can chime in?

 

No significant changes were made. 07 & 08 both have the hydralic clutch. And most of them have the same shocks ( Fox Ryde) which are self adjustable! Although some dealers may have put different shocks on. That's about all I know of. I love mine, the power is awesome and the ride is soft.

Rustzuk, that is a nice looking quad. those heel guards and nerf bars look like a must. any good sites to buy parts for these quads? or any forums where guys sell parts used for these quads?

yeah I thought 07 and 08 were almost identical...the 09's are pretty sweet too though. The got a little sleeker in style (I think they are still fox suspension too). but of course..the problem with the 09 is you pay the 09 price tag for it
