Welcome to the forum 4fords1!

What size carb is on it now? Are you running the stock jets?

I'm on my second stock carb. Changed to this carb last year because the bike would just cough and sputter under load. Drained the carb for winter, started it up this spring and same issue as last year. Took it apart yesterday and saw what appeared to be fine sand in the bowl. Sprayed the whole inside down with carb cleaner, seemed to help a little but still will not run right under load. I don't want to spend another $50 on a carb that will only last a year. The current carb has only about 1.5 hr of run time on it.

The stock jets are most likely the problem..They are too small so the quad will pass EPA and or CARB regulations... makes them all run poorly below about 4K in elevation.

do you run a fuel filter?

Yes, the fuel filter is in-line on the bike.

Weird that sand would get past the filter....I would think with bigger jets it would run a whole bunch better...If you know someone who is a machinist they should be able to drill out the stock jets and make them work better..

Anyone know if there is a Mikuni that will fit on this bike?

I would guess you could get a Mikuni to work but there is a huge possibility it will need to be jetted for your quad too.

Is there a name on the carb you have?
