scramber 400 shifting problems

Default scramber 400 shifting problems

i recently bought a 2000 polaris scrambler 400 4x4 for $500. however it has a few flaws, when shifting from fwd or rev it grinds real bad not real sure what causes it to to it or how to fix it any advice would help.

Easiest fix would be the shift rod out of adjustment or the lever on the tranny stripped or loose.Or even the rpms too high on the motor.
Most likely the shift forks inside the tranny are worn.Not bad to fix just takes time to get it out of the frame.
