Is it one of the new Bigbear's with IRS or if not does the boot go between the transmission and the swingarm? Is it held on with a clamp on one end and a spring on the other?

There should not be any oil contained by that boot, on my Kodiak this area is completely dry, it's just a dust boot. You have a bad transmission output shaft seal (see #13, which appears twice in the diagram because the same seal is used for both the front (bottom of the picture) and rear (top one pictured) outputs - http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....=13&A=239&B=19), the boot slips off because it has oil on it, when did you last check your oil level?

I checked it recently and it ran well before this happend. But it makes sence because I checked a friends Big Bear older quad andthe boot was dried and actually cracked . I wondered about it then ...well I guess I should take it to a certified dealer , what do you think it may cost? Thank you so much for your advice any little bit helps .

The seal is pretty cheap, even if the bearing needs to be replaced it won't cost that much to buy, a bad bearing or too much oil will cause the seal to blow). On that site you posted the bearing is $40 and the seal is $6. What's gonna kill you is the labour, I believe the entire gearbox needs to be split open, meaning your engine/gearbox needs to come out of the quad, I just looked again and it's hard to tell from the diagram but the seal alone may be replaceable without removing/opening the gearbox, the only way to know for sure is to have a dealer look at it.
