yesterday i posted asking for some help getting my 1985 honda125m 3 wheeler going, Thanks to hexen71 for answering my question and leading me in the right direction. I got it running with a new battery today. For some reason even with a battery charger on the old battery it was not enough to crank over the electric start yesterday.

Today i installed a new battery and she started right up so i am on to a whole new problem...

Today i emptied the old gas, removed and cleaned the carb and lines and changed the oil but for some reason the old 125m will not stay idle without the choke pulled out 1/2 way. I did clean the carb and both jets and installed everything back the way i found it. There were two jets and the bowl and a small screen that were all plugged up. Anyway it still wont run unless I have the choke 1/2 way out.. It does run good with no other problems..

Any suggestions would be super. What a great forum..

Have you tried messing with the carb? There's a flat head screw thats real visible probably sticking halfway out with a spring on it. That controls the idle, try messing with it. Turning clockwise with make it idle higher while counterclockwise will make it idle lower. Sounds to me it may need to idle a bit higher. You don't have to turn it much at all either.

 

man, that slow jet is teeny tiny and can replug instantly. The smallest electric guitar string is almost too big if yu can imagine that. Thats what gets you running from idle to over 1/2 throttle. paper fuel filters and change them a few times.

 

Wow to over 1/2 throttle, I wonder what the needle jet does.
