Rear Spring update for 2006 700 Sportsman
#1
I'm looking for advice on what to purchase for rear springs for a 2006 700 EFI Sportsman.
I recently installed the polaris heavy duty front springs to help the sag from the Glacier plow which worked great and now need to update the rear springs to reduce sag.
Does Polaris sell any heavy duty rear springs or do you end up buying the EPI springs? I've seen some articles stating there are 120 and 140 rear springs from EPI and was just wondering if there is much of a difference to reduce sag, I'm a big guy and also carry rear rack cargo so I want to reduce the sag I have now.
Also, it sounds like the installation should be fairly easy, remove shocks, use spring compressor etc, any instructions for this process would be great.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

as far as i can see it would be pretty straight forward on replacing the springs and there are a few ones out there. if you doa search you'll see where peole have uses epi, high lifter and even poalris springs form differnt bikes like x2's or maybe even atp models. imo

I have the highlifter's on the rear of mine and they stiffen things up pretty good. Keep in mind you will sacrifice some of the plush ride but IMO for someone who is bigger, hauls a passenger, and/or a lot of gear it's well worth it.
Installation is like you mentioned. Compress the old spring enough to get the retainer off the top, release compressor, and slide the old spring off. New spring installs in reverse order. Much easier to do it with the shock off the machine but you can do it by removing the wheel and taking the top shock bolt out.
