I'm over fourty, I have a 99' Fourtrax and my back hurts. Is there anything I can do to greatly improve the ride quality of this otherwise excellent machine?

Try some aftermarket shocks. They make a world of difference.

try runing less air in the tires, and buy dunlops next time you buy tires as they are very soft

RANDAL,
I AM 29 AND HAVE HAD A BAD BACK FOR AT LEAST 13 YEARS. LET THESE GUYS GIVE YOU INFO ON SHOCKS AND ECT. BUT IF I HAD TO GIVE YOU ANY INFO IT WOULD BE TO SEE A GOOD CHIROPRACTOR ON OCCASION TO ADJUST YOUR BACK AS NEEDED. ITS LIKE YOUR BIKE IT NEEDS ROUTINE MAINTAINECE TO KEEP IT IN GOOD SHAPE. 2 WEEKS AGO I WENT OVER A JUMP WITH MY WIFES RECON AND F'D MY BACK UP. SO CALLED THE CHIRO UP AND HE ADJUSTED ME THE NEXT AFTERNOON. IM SWARE BY THE . ITS THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS ME GOING! GOOD LUCK.

Thanks everyone. I am definitely buying a kidney belt, already see a physio-therapist/chiropractor and I will be looking into after market shocks.

Is it from the jarring ride, or maybe erogonomics of the seat/handlebar position?

Maybe you could get a custom seat foam that is thicker, plus shocks?

For what its worth, I noticed while looking through the Corbin custom seat catalog, they carry a seat for the Honda trx-300.
