Default 04.5 400 AWD driveline problem

I have an 04.5 awd 400 sportsman and sometimes it feels like something is holding it back, if I reverse for a few seconds and then go forward it is fine again. It feels like the brakes are on but I think it is something in the driveline. It occurs in low or high. If it is occuring and I come to a stop and get off I cannot even push the machine but again if I reverse for a second it "unlocks" and I can push the machine. I have read about hilliard clutch problems but am think that is felt more in steering because the front wheels are locked together, I can notice this when going straight ahead. Thanks for any help.

When it happens try and jack it up off the ground and spin the wheels (front) by hand and see what happens. They should spin freely.
