Advantages of a larger engine...500cc vs Larger cc
#1
just curious, what are the advantages of having a large engine ?
I was looking for a general all round 4x4...from what I have gathered, a 500cc should do me ok....but what will a larger engine like a 700cc do for me ?

I don, have a big bore but had a 350,Big Bear and a 450 Foreman and move to a much more powerful 500 H.O. What I noticed was on fast logging roads with long inclines the 500 lost little speed while my old 350 and 450 needed to be down shifted and bleed off lots of speed.
The 350 Big bear had a low range so work power like pulling and pushing was fine ,that never was a issue. I just like the faster criusing speed on gravel roads on the 500. 55mph vs 45mph.
Don,t just go by motor size,a 500H.O has much more power then a 500 Foreman or 500 AC. A 500 Can AM Outlander has more power then most 650s.

Another advantage to larger CC's and to what TLC said is if you ride at higher elevations having a bigger CC motor will help with power loss. I was looking to by a 550 Grizz when better judgment told me to go with 700!

hmmm...in terms of elevation, what is considered higher (feet wise) ? i think my house is 1100 or 1300 feet above sea level....and that's where i will start riding from....i'm sure than will be some higher ground out there

i agree that basically, top end speed is better wit the bigger engines. i also believe that in winter in snow or in mud, it would help (no replacement for displacement). but other than that, 500 is a very good all-around machine. i dont know of any work-related job that a 500cc couldnt do that a 700 could.

Them why do you need two 700s.A 500 will not keep up in the snow or climbing step hills.
