Question 2006 Polaris 800 Sportsman - rear axle

I have a 2006 Polaris sportsman and I changed the rear boot on the right side, no I can not get the axle to go in all the way, it will go in all the way but when I connect everything back up the bearings are 1/2 way out, does the axle lock in some way? When I put it all together it makes a clicking sound. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks, Mike

But some "Never Seize" on the axle spline before trying to tap the axle back in the diff, also make sure the compression clip/ring is in good shape ,or it will not lock into it,s grove inside the rear diff.

Thanks, it might be the compression clip/ring, the bearings slide in fine but they slide out easy too. Thanks for the info

make sure to clean out where the spine goesa in as well as checking the clip, which btw is what holds the axle froming coming back out. when you pulled it apart you should have noticed it was a little hard to pull the axle out as that would be the clip doing it's job. check out the cv post to see the way to do it if it helps. imo
