atv synthetic winch rope
#2
I replaced my cable last year with the amsteel synthetic 3/16 50' Holding up very well. Got it on Ebay at a good price. Will never go back to steel cable. Be sure to replace your fairlead at the same time. Burrs or jagged edges can chafe and damage the new rope. http://cgi.ebay.com/ATV-3-16-AMSTEEL...item45f69874fc or http://cgi.ebay.com/Synthetic-3-16-A...item45f6b2c940

Amsteel is the best synthetic out there and 50' of 3/16" is the way to go. If you plow or do heavy pulling I would go with 25' of the 1/4". Save your steel line as an extension(just need cable clamps on the other end) and a ****** block is a great idea. A 2' tree saver strap is handy to hook up also.

I don't carry an extension but I do carry a 6' tree strap and a ****** block. Have considered a 25-30' extension but 90% of the time where I ride there is almost always a tree near by.

you will not complain about the synthetic rope. I bought my winch with it. I've seen a cable snap and watched someone get hurt from it. Not a pretty sight. Rope coils back up better then cable too (no memory). Can't go wrong with 50'. tree saver is a great idea and my extension is just a simple tow strap. a winch saver is nice too. and careful with the ****** block... they're made more for cable so watch that the rope doesn't slide off the pulley and get caught.
